From the icy synth chords that open the track to the pulsing bass that fades in the end the latest track from SwedishXAustralian group Kate Boy is a earth shattering, rafters splitting call to find something “Higher“. The track comes as the group prepare to release their debut album later in 2015 and ahead of a string of shows and festivals the group have recently been announced on (sadly no Australian dates yet). The song is something close to the bands hearts and fuses their electro-chill with lyrics calling for equality and love amongst all.
“Higher” combines a powerful vocal battling against a chilling synth, punching drum beats and an distinctly 80’s inspired baseline to propel the track. The track shouts the mantra of rising through differences and evolving to a place of equality where people are respected no matter who you are or who you love. “A fundamental human right that everyone deserves all over the world,” explains the group.
Kate Boy have long been a personal favourite of mine and it seems the rest of the world is catching on (even if Australia is taking it’s sweet time). Check out the track bellow as long with the stunning artwork that accompanies the EP.
